The fascination of conversing with history
THE RENOVATION WORKS
The Archaeological Museum of the Territory of Populonia has an internal storeroom and a renovation laboratory that interacts constantly with the research activities carried out by the universities that have operated for years at the Archaeological Park of Baratti and Populonia, and receives the objects found that may need restoration.

CATALOGUING
Online catalogues, available to all.
Since 2001, the Archaeological Museum of the Territory of Populonia has been engaged in computerising the paper catalogues of its collections, under a project financed by the Tuscany Region and coordinated by the Association of the Archaeological Museums of Tuscany.
In 2008-2009, a huge project to catalogue all the objects in the museum was completed; over 80% of the objects on display and stored in the laboratory were catalogued.
In 2010, the catalogues, with the relative photographic evidence, modified to satisfy the needs of the general public, was put on-line on the Parchi Val di Cornia website.
This project made our museum one of the few Italian museums to have catalogued a collection of this size and with these characteristics of consumption, also enabling better adaptation to national museum standards.

THE EXHIBITIONS
The Archaeological Museum of the Territory of Populonia organises and hosts temporary exhibitions dedicated to the territory, to specific archaeological contexts and finds, to themes linked to the ancient world and to projects developed with schools or along with other entities.
Thanks to the continuation of the archaeological digs in the territory, the museum periodically adds new displays to its collections and sets up permanent exhibitions dedicated to the latest finds.
In recent years, numerous exhibitions and displays have been set up; to mention just a few: Marble illusions. A mosaic floor from the Acropolis of Populonia in 2018, the Archaeology on the work site exhibition, New discoveries from the Baratti digs in 2014, A treasure from the sea in 2004, the Banquet Hall in 2003, The sea in a room in 2002.
